HOW TO WAKE UP EARLY

Early morning classes are the worst and you know it. It hurts to get out of bed so early to go to class and I am sure you even consider if you really need an education. One university tip I have is do not sign up for early morning classes! You will not go to them, trust me. But sometimes we have no choice. I have developed some habits to make it easier to wake up early for those classes.


1. ALARMS

I am the type of person that has 10 alarms that ring every 2 minutes. It is annoying but it gets the job done. So one of my tips is to, imagine you have to wake up and get out of bed at 7am, put an alarm clock earlier than 7am, like 6.45am for example, this way you know you can spend some time just laying in your bed doing nothing if you want to. I do not recommend you do that though because you will not get up in time.

So put all the alarms you need but make sure you get up!


2. BLINDS

This is the most important tip I have to give you. I love waking up with the sun shining on my face. I usually do not put my blinders all the way down so that sunlight can shine through my room. But if you have to sleep in absolute darkness, once you get up open your blinds and let the sun shine. If you stay in the dark, you will mostly likely go back to sleep. Of course in most countries and times of the year waking up early means waking up while it is still dark outside. So my advice in those situations is to turn on the lights. Do not lay in the dark, it will just make you fall back asleep.


3. BREAKFAST

I love food but most important I love coffee. So I use breakfast as a way to motivate myself to wake up. It is my reward for waking up if that makes sense. What I mean with this example is get something to look forward to once you get up. It can be coffee, cereal or something unrelated to food.


4. THINK IN ADVANCE

When you stay in bed and don´t go to class, in that moment you may feel amazing but think in a week or two. When you finally have to study what the teacher went through that class you will hate the fact that you missed it. So think in advance, will staying in bed benefit me in the future?
